People in Edmonton love sports, both to play and watch.
The City of Edmonton operates activity centres (where you can participate in different sports activities), ice arenas, golf courses, and public swimming pools. Classes and programs are also available at these locations. As well, Edmonton has an extensive park system with picnic sites, walking/cycling trails, and sports fields.
Edmonton is also the home of the legendary five-time Stanley Cup winning Edmonton Oilers ice hockey team, the Edmonton Eskimos (North American) football team , the Edmonton Cracker Cats minor baseball team, a professional lacrosse team, and many, many amateur sports leagues.
