Throughout the year, Edmontonians will celebrate holidays, which for most full-time workers means either a day off or, for those required to work on those days, a special holiday wage.
Designated holidays in Edmonton are celebrated on these days:
New Year’s Day (January 1)
Family Day (the second Monday in February)
Good Friday (the Friday before Easter)
Victoria Day (the Monday before May 25)
Canada Day (July 1)
Labour Day (first Monday in September)
Christmas Day (December 25).
Employers may also arbitrarily choose to add other general holidays, such as Boxing Day or Heritage Day.
