Where can I stay when I first arrive?
In Canada, there are many hotels where you can rent a room with kitchen facilities. These are usually called Suite Hotels. You can find websites that will help you to search for a hotel on our accomodations page.
If you are coming to Canada and are concerned that you may not be able to afford a hotel for longer stays and would prefer to find other forms of temporary accomodations, try contacting a settlement agency who will help you find a place to stay. There is a list of agencies on the Newcomer Services page.
Can I afford a house?
Edmonton is one of the cities in Canada where many people can afford their own home. Although you may need to start by renting an apartment or a house when you first arrive, most people who live here and work in their chosen field can afford to own a house. How do I find a Doctor?
When you have registered for an Alberta Health Care card, you have access to the public health care system including medical checkups and hospital visits. Capital Health is the health region for Edmonton and the Capital Health website provides links to hospitals and a search for physicians. You can find more information here.
Where can I register my children for school?
