Education in Alberta is a priority, providing students with the knowledge and skills to become good workers and active citizens, and as such Alberta spends more money per student than any other province in Canada. As a result, we have one of the most educated populations in the country, with about a 90% rate of high school graduation among Albertans between the ages of 25 and 34, with 75% of those graduates going on to university.
Dedicated and highly trained teachers work together to provide rigorous and up to date classroom learning. Alberta students score among the highest in the world in reading, science and mathematics. Instruction is provided in English, French or French Immersion, or bilingual programs in 16 different languages. Music and art programs, drama, Aboriginal studies, career and technology, optional programs as well as a mandatory daily exercise program ensure that students remain well-rounded.
The University of Alberta is the home to world-class research and teaching, and many Edmonton area colleges now offer university transfer courses or degrees.
